THIS IS ITALY!

When you walk towards your platform and look at your tickets you realize that you’ve got two first class tickets instead of one second class ticket. So that’s why it was so expensive. You’re annoyed with yourself for not having checked when you got the ticket. You look at the clock on the platform. There’s still time.
You rush back to the counter where you bought your ticket. There’s now another man sitting there. You can see the man who sold you your ticket walking around in the back.
You explain to the man that you had wanted to buy a second class return ticket to Florence, but have been given two first class tickets and that you would like to change them.
The man behind the counter says you have to fill in a customer complaint form, that he needs to make a copy of your passport and that there’s a 10 euro administration fee.
“What?” you say. You only bought the tickets just a minute ago!
The man pulls up his shoulders as if to say take it or leave it. He browses through a folder and hands you a form. You give him your passport.
You fill in the form as he makes a copy of your passport. You have to cite the reasons of your complaint and write your name and address. This is ridiculous.
The man hands you back your passport and a receipt. He informs you that if your complaint is granted you will receive a cheque.
This is too much. “What kind of nonsense is that!” you exclaim.
“This is Italy!” the man says.
He is right. This is Italy. You wait for a moment. Then you pull out your gun. The man behind the counter smiles at you. There’s bulletproof glass between him and you. This is Italy. They must have many unsatisfied customers.
You look at your watch. Now it isn’t just a matter of getting your money back, but also of catching your train to Florence. You put away your gun. The man hands you your new ticket. You manage to mumble “Grazie”, put it inside your pocket and dash off to your platform.
